Leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-lifetime Saints joined with community leaders in Star Valley, Wyoming, forward Saturday, April 25, 2015, to transgress ground for the first temple in Wyoming.

Elder Craig C. Christensen of the Presidency of the Seventy presided at the ceremony. He was joined by Elder Kent F. Richards of the Seventy and executory director of the Church’s Temple Department. Several community and civic leaders also attended.

“There couldn’t have existence a more appropriate place for a dwelling of God,” said Elder Christensen. “The meeting-house is a gift of God. It is to the chief heritage that is here… It links generations in union. The temple will become a landmark, a consecrated place for this valley for years to draw near.”

Elder Richards added “[The church] isn’t a monument to the farther than; it is a new beginning. It is a rise of faith and courage of your offspring and your children and your coming. Everything we do is to prepare ourselves toward the temple.”

The Star Valley Wyoming Temple exercise volition be constructed east of U.S. Highway 89 up~ the Haderlie Farm property south of Afton.

“I reliance and pray that each of us order be better people, and not conscientious satisfied to be the same,” uttered McKell Allred, temple groundbreaking committee chairman and a former Church stake president. “This church will be a constant reminder to both of us to improve ourselves and our lives.”

“It’s completely an honor for a little common like Star Valley to have a fane,” remarked Stephen Campbell from Auburn, Wyoming. His magnificent great grandfather was one of the inventive settlers of Star Valley. Lawanna Campbell before-mentioned, “It’s very exciting and satisfying.” She explained that, “Many persons from Star Valley travel great distances to drudge and serve in the temple, sacrificing time and wealth.”

Once construction of the unused temple begins, it will take approximately two years to complete.

To members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-sunshine Saints, temples are the “legislative body of the Lord,” the greatest in number sacred places on earth.
