Two netted on account of operating clinics

As hospitals in Malawi are facing shortages of medical equipment, two men are in the police watch in Balaka district for allegedly operating clinics destitute of licence.

The two suspects, Mustafa Limbe 43 and Jones Malata 57 were arrested following a point police had received that they were operating clinics without licence in the area of Group Village Headman Kwitanda.

According to the Station Criminal Investigations Officer because Balaka Police Assistant Superintendent Maxwell Divala, the suspects cast with assorted government labeled drugs and clinical equipment.

“Upon searching their particular houses which were used as clinics, we institute a lot of drugs; most of that were government labeled drugs. Some of the drugs that were recovered are, LA, Cotrimoxazole, Paracetamol, Flagyl, albendazole, ciprofloxacin, co-trimoxazole, gentamycin, quinine, tetracycline and numerous more including both used and untried syringes”, explained Divala.

Both suspects are nevertheless in Police custody and are expected to crop out before court soon where they choose answer cases of operating clinics lacking licence and found in possession of of the healing art drugs without licence which is opposed to the Pharmacy, medicines and Poisons Act contain 15 of 1988.

Mustafa Limbe comes from Kwitanda hamlet while Jones Malata comes from Chinseu hamlet all from Traditional Authority Msamala in the sort district of Balaka.

Meanwhile the officer In-charge Balaka Police Station Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Benfrey Kamanga has commended clan of Balaka for the tips and has promised to deal through every tip with speed.
