Amid scarcity of drugs in Malawi’s men hospitals, Police in Balaka district be seized of arrested two people for being rest in possession of government labelled drugs and allegedly operating clinics lacking licence.
Balaka police public relations officer Inspector Joseph Sauka said they arrested the pair Mustafa Limbe 43 and Jones Malata 57 following a extremity off that they were operating from their homes in the territory of Group Village Headman Kwitanda.
Some of the drugs that were recovered included, LA, Cotrimoxazole, Paracetamol, Flagyl, albendazole, ciprofloxacin, gentamycin, quinine, tetracycline and the two used and unused syringes.
The drugs get not yet been valued and quantified.
“Both suspects are expected to be in sight before court to answer cases of operating clinics lacking licence and found in possession of therapeutical drugs without licence which is opposite to the Pharmacy, medicines and Poisons Act reckon 15 of 1988,” said Inspector Sauka
Mustafa Limbe comes from Kwitanda hamlet while Jones Malata comes from Chinseu town all from Traditional Authority Msamala in Balaka province.
