Interview by the Mayor of Amman

By Chibuogwu Nnadiegbulam

Waking up this twenty-four hours, I knew

My dream was on the eve to come true

And yes, I should be favored with had butterflies in my stomach, nevertheless instead, I woke up with a enduring gas-filled running stomach – surely there was no room left for butterflies.

This killjoy which had tormented me the day in the presence of (just don’t ask me that which I ate) succeeded in sneaking into my early part in spite of me enduring couple tablets of Flagyl, one of that got stuck on its way down my throat.

But I still began my ~light with another two, nonetheless because I could not imagine ~y embarrassing situation of unofficially converting the dress on the airplane to my abode.

The GTBank was my first carriage of call on the day (oh please, dress in’t hail me too much), I had gone to turn into money a cheque and possibly buy USD at one time.

However after getting my money, in that place was no USD for sale and in like manner I fell back to the election of buying from an Hausa fright Janine Anthony had recommended.

He was selling at N430 to the dollar, the cheapest from our short survey. I was supposed to fulfil him at the Airport, or so I thought.

Anyways, in my slow morning walk to get some things sorted, I printed with~ my ticket confirmation and was headed during the term of the Murtala Mohammed Airport from to what I would proceed to Dubai and then Amman for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup.

Okay, I did interrupt at Okosisi, a famous Supermarket cum Pharmacy side by side Muri Okunoka street to buy (and liking) Tetracycline, else mum would not be delivered of left me in peace. She can worry sha.

Well, I got to the airport in time beneficial to check in and was done previous to you know it. No, I take that back.

I would be seized of been done before you know it, suppose that not for my igbo sister who kept scrutinizing my visa verbal expression again and again from the Arabic written united to the English written one, to have ~ing sure she would be doing the rectilinear thing to let me pass.

I went through completely that, got my tickets; one to Dubai and the other to Amman, and was easy for my flight, but first I needed Dollars and to this place I was walking up and prostrate from Departure D to E and back, in examination of Sumaila, the Hausa guy, whom, of the same kind with it turned out, I wasted my cold earned airtime on.

He was really at Air Force barracks in Victoria Island. The identical VI I had come from, nowhere closely allied the Airport, and he was requesting I returned what one. would have been insane to behave.

Moving on however, I got more change at a Bureau de modify located at the Airport and proceeded to my shower’s boarding gate, of course end immigrations.

A whole new experience according to me. And so as we took on the farther side aboard an Emirates Airline I smiled at the setting orb of day in view of a lot other thing exciting moments.

It is my side with travel out of the country and my pristine out of Africa. My first light step out of Nigeria was Ghana, through road.

For the over 7 hr volitation to Dubai, I had dinner, watched a Hindi movie and slept.

When I woke up, we were less than two hours from Dubai and in such a manner I helped myself with another movie to see me through it (candid advice from Janine Anthony). And at from one place to another 4:30, we landed.

In adjust not to make it seem like I don’t talk to strangers, I beyond all question to start a conversation with this scarecrow I had noticed all the street from Nigeria.

He sat beside me in the airside bus that took us to the arrival gate and I asked him granting that Dubai was his final destination no more than he said no, that he would be connecting a flight to Guangzhou, China and which time I asked him what for, he uttered, “business”.

I already knew right from while I saw him at MMA, which I was wrong about was that he would take lodgings in Dubai.

Anyways he told me he would be in China for three weeks prior to returning to his Onitsha base by the jewelries he would buy.

According to him, they are cheaper in China and he sells wholesale at the time that in Nigeria.

Anyways, we went our dissimilar ways and I went on each ultimate search for ‘B29’ from in what place I would board my next flying to Amman. When I finally set it, I then took some time to wonder at the magnificence of the Dubai International Airport and was back in time in opposition to take-off.

After over 2hrs 30 minutes, we arrived Jordan and by the help of FIFA, my International Passport was stamped outside of any hassle.

And a driver from the hotel was even now at the airport to pick me up to the Grand Palace Hotel.

His remembrance is Yousef Yaqoub and he was verily friendly. He gave me access to the wifi in the car and space of time we spoke on the long oblige to the hotel, he seriously told me to have ~ing careful about the dead sea on this account that there was a case in court concerning it, and when curious me asked the iniquity, he said the dead sea was murdered and it’s life-current flowed into the Red sea.

The view on our way to the inn was awesome with largely clay colored storey buildings occurring here and there on hills in Amman.

When I got to the tavern, I finally met Sonja of the AIPS whom I communicated with for about three weeks with good wishes to the AIPS Young Reporters Programme, Roselyn, who is the Secretary General of the International Sports Press Association and three other Young Reporters who had arrived preceding me, Katie from England, Victor figure Brazil and Tracey from Cameroon.

I was given time to make fresher up and rest a bit judgment coming down for lunch where I tried noodles that was prepared through Sesame oil and did not journey beyond a spoon. Eventually I stable for White rice and beef seasoning.

From lunch, we went on our before anything else assignment at the official opening of use a ~ upon zone for Jordan 2016.

I did my leading interview as an AIPS Young Reporter through the Mayor of Amman, I took a selfie through Jordanian super star, Hussein Al Salman a co-vocalist of the official song of the tournament “Jordan our Playground”, we played with the kids at the FIFA LiveYour Goals domain and it was all fun.

Back at the public-house, we had dinner and then my sleepy head managed to write my chief article of the AIPS Youn Reporters Programme preceding I succumbed to nature’s freezing squat.

With the other AIPS young reporters
