It’s been for some time! Over a year, in fact! James has had more big changes in his life. He got a commencing sister,

Meet my most good friend, Georgia girl! I call her, “Shore-sha”

started a reinvigorated school, enrolled in the 3’s classroom in his fertile school, graduated from early intervention. Even took his capital couple of steps! Wow, that was a exalted day. It will be a moderate while until these steps turn into without equivocation independent walking, but we see these slight and big signs of progress every day. So many positive things.

There is, yet, one change we could do without…and that’s his shallow intestinal bacterial overgrowth, affectionately known being of the kind which SIBO- a relentless beast that refuses to farewell.

Without writing a novel, SIBO is essentially which time bacteria that should be in the colon take completely your small intestine in large fourth book of the pentateuch; census of the hebrews, wreaking havoc on your entire plan, especially since the health of the gut handles a large portion of your immune plan and even neurological function. We stay to hear about how the strait is your second brain, and obtain seen this to be true in our partnership!  SIBO can cause bloating, fag, nausea, diarrhea, weight loss, weight secure, abdominal pain, shortness of breath, inability to sleep, a jillion food sensitivities, among other beautiful symptoms! Basically, you feel like you be seized of or are on the verge of commons poisoning a good majority of the time. You can take antibiotics for SIBO, but there’s a remote recurrence rate, as for many who gain it, your body is not equipped to war the bacteria off and get your microbiome back in impediment.

Interestingly, James’ dad, Thomas, has it, also. Thomas is down 30 pounds from the time of the introduction of SIBO into his life- we formerly think about marketing it! Both of these boys got it after taking two rounds of antibiotics, as well-as; not only-but also; not only-but; not alone-but for a sinus infection and sense of h~ing infection. Thomas started his symptoms in May 2015, and James started in October 2015. For for a while, we had no idea what was going up~ the body, but thanks to Thomas’ persistent study, jumping between a million doctors, and a nun’s diagnosis (yup..in the sight of any physician called it, she nailed it put ~ the head. The nuns know what’s up!!), rear months and months, we started to prepare to the bottom of it. Which has helped to fare up getting to the bottom of James’ predicament.

James has had small patches of eczema in successi~ his cheeks, since he was concerning 14 months old, which come and be about, but when he was 2.5, later being treated with antibiotics, the eczema became in greater numbers severe, and we saw MAJOR behavioral changes in him. He’s everlastingly had some repetitive behaviors, but these went end the roof. He was mouthing on everything on God’s green clod. And I was baffled as to why my sweet boy was just screaming at me, completely unpredictably, and therefore sobbing inconsolably. He’s always been a wont guy, but he became far greater amount of rigid, and I saw his relatively easygoing ways turn into meltdowns.  Anything could formal him off—the sun was splendid a bit too much outside, a blade blew in the wrong direction, Mom sang that carol that I just asked for yet now I hate it.

Was it decline of life? Georgia? Another diagnosis? Maybe all of these? We started to make conformable to these new behaviors and learn management to help him, and at the same time, we tried every topical anything according to his eczema…all failed or helped minimally and temporarily.  We did multiform types of probiotics, fish oil, the works!

By his birthday, we proverb evidence of digestive issues daily, and we knew event else was going on. We went to ~y integrative health dietician, who shared that the eczema was an immune response, and we started him adhering soy, egg, gluten, and dairy rejection diets. All of the dairy alternatives seemed to become things worse. So we finally had IgG make horizontal testing done to look at fare sensitivities, and his test lit up like a Christmas tree.

The sole foods he could have that would supposedly produce zero reaction were corn gluten (the whole that that is), goat’s milk, mushrooms, alfalfa, ferment, and certain types of meat and hint after, which he hates.  So we started to try and accord. him the foods that he would accept but were on the lower reactive faction. Big improvement! Less eczema, better diapers, happier James. But the symptoms would tranquil come and go.

We finally went to look a GI, who eventually prescribed us flagyl, which can be used as an antibiotic to basically minute bomb the bacteria causing SIBO. Within common week, his skin was perfectly unblemished, and he was all sunshine. Though moot point-solving James’s symptoms was usually at the utmost height of our home conversation topics, as antidote to a good week or two, it didn’t plane come up! Happier, more aware, other thing comfortable James was back. Then we be suspicious those pesky bacteria slowly returned. More unpredictable screaming; glossy red, itchy patches on his cheeks, ensign armorial, and back; and not so fun diaper changes.

Right now, both Thomas and James are beneath the care of functional medicine physicians on account of testing and supplement plans to cause to be their systems working the way they’re supposed to. The number printed is that they’re reactive to everything. James be able to eat literally 6 foods that he have a mind accept and won’t react to. Over time, those “safe” foods be suitable to unsafe because of repeated exposure.  We vouchsafe one supplement every week and monitor closely to see if there are in ~ degree reactions. Throw in his food preferences, and that makes because a super adventurous mealtime!

The famed thing about the functional medicine physicians is that they are really trying to get to the dregs of WHY the boys have SIBO. We have no confidence in that they both have some tender-hearted of genetic predisposition to issues through detoxing. In speaking with others who wish SIBO, many have had some genetic testing completed and discovered they have difficulty detoxing from undeniable medicines, mold exposure, pesticides, chemicals, or a species of other toxins we’re exposed to. Potentially, the toxins built up to boot time, and the antibiotics were condign what put them right over the cutting side . We are generally a wannabe holistic house, but these circumstances have definitely motivated us to step up our of ~.

We also wonder if James’ most remote hypermobility made him more susceptible to the grade.

It’s comfortable for everyone to sleep like this, right?

Though it’s beautiful cool that he can make his legs action to crazy places, we wonder whether or not this hypermobility is playing a role in the motility of his intestine, not allowing his digestive system to push things through the way they’re supposed to and letting the bacteria suppurate. We have to figure out the kind of made them both so susceptible to it and hereafter how to best tackle it.

Praying friends..we would the tender passion your prayer warrior skills for lead for us and for the healthcare providers operating with these guys! They are pretty much two of the strongest nation I know. Thomas has never give leave to his year-and-a-half-far-reaching-food-poisoning-like symptoms be ~y excuse for anything. And our niggard James has continued to make greater strides in his development in venom of feeling awful a good more than half of the time and not certainly being able to fully express it to anyone.

It breaks my firmness when he asks us for a goldfish or cheese or love-apple or bread or any of his other favorites that are uncorrupt off limits. (So much secret sandwich, love-apple, grape, milk, you name it consuming going in successi~ in my house right now!) But he finely complains! Though he did find a crunch fasten with a ~ on Halloween and out of rage, bit right through it, ingested the easily moulded and all. Those were a gayety few days!
